Bioshock Infinite (2013) - Game Review

So we're starting off our Games reviews with one of the best this year: Bioshock Infinite

This game as come a long way since first introduced. Elizabeth, the vigors and even the number of Songbirds appearances change from 2007 to 2013. However the game is beautifully well made with a huge plot twist that I think no one was expecting that ending and the fact that the more you think about it the more confused you are. But let's talk about the game itself.

First the history: The game begins with Booker DeWitt a man who must bring a girl back to New York (who we later found out her name is Elizabeth) in other to wipe way a debt - "bring us the girl and wipe away the debt" - which we hear alot throughout the video game. Then, after receiving a wood box with many things including Elizabeth's picture, Booker is drop off by two people and goes off to try and reach Colombia (a huge flying city) and when he gets there that's when the danger starts.

[Single Review] Kat Graham - Power (2013)

The Vampire Diaries star is a triple treat as an actress, singer and great dancer and this amazing woman is releasing a new single - POWER - that is now my favorite song of her, Miss Kat Graham.

Artist Of The Week - Cascada /// Top5

As I promised you can read now my top 5.

5) Everytime We Touch from Everytime We Touch

This song written by Stuart MacKillop, Maggie Reilly and Peter Risavy and produced by DJ Manian and Yanou was the first big hit of this eurodance group and received positive critics.

The song did a good performance on charts, conquered #1 on Ireland and Sweden and #2 on UK.

4) Evacuate The Dancefloor from Evacuate The Dancefloor

This song written by the previous writers of Eveyrtime We Touch was described by Music House as a "playful, sexy pop stomper that brings R&B, slinky soul and rap to the group's table for the first time. The track is still a euphoric, arms-in-the-air dancefloor anthem, but this time, its moves are more sophisticated, its sonic tricks cleverer and vocalist Natalie Horler's vocals both more personal and powerful than ever"

Artist Of The Week  /// Muse /// Top 5

Yesterday I introduced them so lets skip the introduction and go ahead to the point. I'm only going to talk about my Top 5 Muse songs. And it was hard to choose 5 between all of their great tracks but I think I got it right

So here is my top 5...

5. Madness, from The 2nd Law

Madness is the only song I truly love from The 2nd Law. Don't take me wrong, the album is good but I'm not fond of the Skrillex sounds on an album when the main genre of the group is rock. However the ending of Madness is just perfect and Matt's voice just gets us in a peaceful state of mind with those long notes and it makes us want more.

4. Supermassive Black Hole, from Black Holes and Revelations

This songs is, till today, the group's most successful single, being their highest charted single. And it's one of my favorites. Even though I first listened to it on a game I became instantly hooked on the song and its distorted sounds and again Matt's voice just made this song even more epic.

Artist Of The Week

This weeks Artist Of The Week is one of my favorite bands. This past Monday night they performed in Porto, Portugal. From what I've heard the concert was wonderful with them going through every album and showing the different styles they have been creating for several years.

Now about the band: They are an English alternative rock band formed by: Matthew Bellamy; Christopher Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard.

So far they have released 6 unique albuns and won several awards and by middle 2012 they had sold more than 15 Million albuns WW. Their highest single chart position is Supermassive Black Hole (#4)  and they've had 5 number #1 albums in the UK chart. So have you guessed who they are? That's right, the AOTW are the one and only, Muse!

With that said don't forget to check out the blog throughout the week for more stuff about Muse.

Introducing Ivy Levan

Ivy Levan is a new promising singer in the music industry. The 26 year old performer has released several songs over the years, like “Empty” or “Birdie”, but only now she had the opportunity to put out her debut EP with 4 new and great songs!

Ivy puts her big, powerful voice and sassy delivery in a style of music she calls “swamp-hop” – a style created in 1950/1960 that combines New Orleans-style rhythm and blues, country and western, and traditional French Louisiana musical influences.

[Review] Ivy Levan - “Introducing The Dame” (EP)

“Introducing the Dame” is Ivy’s debut EP that includes four great tracks. All of them all really fun and have a 50s vibe that I absolutely love!

Kerli: Top5

This beauty is probably the most successful singer from Estonia and her songs are so catchy that they make you dance and sing.

I didn't know about her but when I listened to some of her songs it was easy for me to remember the lyrics and the songs from radio.

Kerli, 26, is a professional pop and alternative rock singer and songwriter that you may not know that much about her but some of her compositions include Demi Lovato's Skyscraper.

Kerli's discography has 2 albums - Love Is Dead from 2008 and Utopia from 2013 - and I'm going to write about my Kerli's favorite top 5 songs.

Review: Kylie Minogue - Skirt

Skirt, Kylie's new dubstep anthem, leaked in the early morning of this past Monday (27th).

Its the first track released since Kylie joined Roc Nation.

The song is inspired in a song produced by Bones and Nom De Strip named Shake & Bake.

The song is produced by The Dream (who produced Rihanna's 2007 worldwide hit, Umbrella).

The track is not Kylie's upcoming album's lead single and there's no exact information about it. So it may not apear in the album.

Skirt is a dance pop track with dubstep with a build-up chorus.

Lyrically, the song's theme is sex and Kylie's breathy sexy vocals give the song a new meaning.

Catchy, different, sexy and full of quality. One of Kylie's best in recent years.

8.5/10.

Artist Of The Week  /// P!nk /// The Top 5

Alecia Moore, or should I say P!nk, shows the image of a rebellious and rocker girl who does whatever she wants whetever the other people's opinion may be.

And here is my P!nk's top 5 tracks....

Michael Jackson - Michael (2010)

Hold My Hand

The album starts with this excellent song, a duet with Akon,  produced mainly by Michael Jackson and Akon himself. The lyrics ask for peace, love and union all over the world. The instrumental is very smooth and pretty, but at the same time cool and with a fun vibe, connecting perfectly to the lyrics. This was the lead single of the album due to a little note that Michael left saying he actually wanted this song to be the first single of “Michael”. I believe Michael chose ‘Hold My Hand’ because, as I said before, the lyrics ask for worldwide peace and love, ideals that he strongly defended during his life and career.

Hollywood Tonight

This is one of those songs you describe with only two words, Michael Jackson. It has a “beatbox-like” beat, easily associable to his name. This funky instrumental is accompanied by lyrics that tell the story of a girl who desires to be a star.

She dreams of fame
She changed her name
To one that fits the movie screen
She's headed for the big time

The song turned out to be the 2^nd single of “Michael” due to its great vibe and its catchy and repetitious chorus…

Keep Your Head Up

A great, great ballad-like/slow/happy song. The instrumental is attached to these never-give-up, its-going-to-be-fine and be-happy feelings expressed in the lyrics that tries to teach us that we got to move on, be proud of ourselves, never give up on us/our life and rise!... rise after we fall, not stay on the dirt, because at the end of the day, all we need is love.

(I Like) The Way You Love Me

Also a song with the feel-good beat type that starts with the one and only MJ on the phone with the (other) producer of “(I Like) The Way You Love Me”, telling him he just had a great idea for a song and sings for the producer what he had just came up with… As soon as he starts showing how the drums would play in the song a very nice and simple piano melody starts playing. The lyrics represent a nice and simple love song with a nice beat, nothing more than that.  It’s not a must listen but you should definitely give it a try.

Monster

This is my 2^nd favorite song in the album!  A dark-forest sound and a big scream is a great way to start a song with a name like this, don’t you think? I found this song kind of addictive due of its awesome ‘hard’ beats. Michael uses ‘monster’ and ‘animal’ to describe paparazzi since, as we all know, during his life he was constantly being “attacked” by the media. I also loved the 50 Cent rap part, I think it is flawless and the words fit perfectly in the beat. Here’s a little taste of it…

All hail, run tell, the King has risen
2010 Thriller, there's nothing iller, it's killer
There vision, the missin' the pack, this is that,
This the bomb, ring the alarm
MJ number 1, it's goes on and on
It goes on and on
We get to crippin', its running in the early morn'
Keep on dreaming there's nowhere to run
You can drive but you done
I can feel it in the air, here the monster come.

Best Of Joy

To be honest, there’s not much to say about this song. It has a very nice and smooth instrumental with some finger snapping and lovely lyrics. It is a cute little love song in which Michael’s voice fits terrible well due to his characteristic vocal smoothness.

Breaking News

And here it is! My favorite song in this album!

I love how they used samples of media talking about Michael Jackson to start the song and then used a big “BREAKING NEWS!” right before the beat starts. The beat is great! Especially in the chorus, with the back vocals! The lyrics talk about how everyone is “on MJ’s ass”, how everyone blames him for everything and at the same time how everyone wants to copy what he does (Pop Icon alert!).

(I Can’t Make It) Another Day

I dare to say this is the fierce moment of de album. With a touch of funk rock and “rock-like hard” vocals in the chorus, Jackson sings about an unrequited love:

You're the fire that keeps me warm
I can't make it another day
How did I get through this storm?
I can't live another day without your love

Besides the integration of rock components in the song, the back vocals by Lenny Kravitz, turn the song into a must listen!

Behind The Mask

Funky! Funky! Funky! This song was originally recorded for Michael’s album “Thriller” but didn’t make the final cut and it stayed unreleased for almost 25 years! This is definitely one of the highlights of the album. The lyrics talk about a girl who hides a lot of things from Michael, despite their relationship.

Much Too Soon

It’s a very pretty love ballad. Nice acoustic guitar samples in a very smooth instrumental. Once again, Michael’s voice fits perfectly on it! A very nice and pretty song, not a highlight in the album though.

RATE: 7.5/10
