Artist of The Week // Jennifer Lopez

Artist Of The Week  /// Jennifer Lopez /// The Top 5

And I've returned with my projet, the Artist of the Week.
This time, I'll explore Jennifer's top 5 songs.
Since 1998 that J.Lo has been gracing us with outstanding RnB / dance pop oriented albums.
Jenny is a big part of the this generation's life. I grew up watching her movies, listening to her music and breaking my bones trying to learn her choreographies, and I believe you did the same.

So, without further adieu here are Jenny's top 5 tracks in my opinion:

5. One Love, from LOVE?

To be very honest with you, I wasn't a big fan of the song until a couple of days ago, when someone talked to me about it. Ever since, I've fell in love with this track.
One Love talks about all of Jennifer's past relationships and how they all ended up hurting her.
Took a shot with a bad boy from the block
Picked my love right from the start
Mister wrong he plays his part
Back to the beginning, now round 2
Try my luck with something new
Besides the great production, and it's catchy chorus, One Love is a song that everyone can relate to/will relate to.

4. Get Right, from Rebirth

Get Right is an RnB, pop oriented upbeat song with jazz, funk and rock influences that shows how creative, fun and catchy a J.Lo song can be.
Lyrically, the song talks about themes such as sex, love, dance and alcohol
Before the night is up
We can get right
(...)
I'm about to fill your cup
So we can get it right

The greatest thing about Get Right it's is uptempo beat. The production, the beat and sounds makes you want to get up, and get it right.
Besides being an overall perfection track, it has one of the greatest music videos of the past decade.

3. Waiting For Tonight, from On The 6

Waiting For Tonight is arguably Jenny's most daring and forward thinking song.
When the song came out, back in 1999, only a certain amount of artists where experimenting with sounds, luckily for us, Jennifer was one of them.
It was an inescapable club track, everywhere you went you'd hear the song, every time you turned up the radio, the song was playing.
It has one of the most infectious sexy sounds all put into one masterpiece.
You just can't escape it.

2. Play, from J.Lo

Many people would put Love Don't Cost A Thing in 2nd or first place, and I don't blame them. Love Don't Cost A Thing is Jenny at her very best, but it just can't compare to Play.
The sexy, infectious RnB beat is just pure magic.
Play, to this day, still sounds fresh and new. It has a daring and innovative sound, and a very distinct one in J.Lo's discography and it wasn't smiliar to anything that was on the radio at the time of it's release.
The song is an amazing jam, and it'll go down in history as a Jennifer classic.

1. Ain't It Funny, from J.Lo

A little unexpected, huh?
Ain't It Funny is, in my opinion, J.Lo's greatest song.
And before moving on, I'd like to let you all know I am not talking about the dreadful murder remix.
Ain't It Funny is a sexy, latin, RnB, mecca disco, pop infused with 'western'  outstanding love song. Lyrically the song talks about creating a perfect romance.
I really don't know what to say about this track. All I know is that it leaves me speechless and it was, for me, love at first listen.
It has a certain je ne sais quoi about it, that makes it very distinct and different from Jenny's discography.

And that was it, you guys. Keep checking the blog for more.
Remember, Jenny is like cherry pie you can't deny it, you had to try it.
